7-Eleven Partners with Plenty to Introduce Sustainable, Locally Grown Produce in California Stores

The collaboration brings pesticide-free leafy greens grown using innovative vertical farming technology to over 1,300 locations, supporting 7-Eleven’s commitment to quality and sustainability.

7-Eleven, Inc. has partnered strategically with Plenty Unlimited Inc., a leader in indoor vertical farming, to offer fresh, locally grown produce in its California locations. The collaboration highlights 7-Eleven’s commitment to sustainability and providing customers with high-quality products that align with environmentally responsible practices. This venture will feature leafy greens grown using Plenty’s advanced farming methods in salads across 1,300 7-Eleven stores in California.

Plenty’s vertical farming technology represents a breakthrough in sustainable agriculture. By cultivating crops in vertically stacked layers within controlled environments, Plenty achieves a yield 350 times greater per acre than traditional farming while using only 1% of the land. The system also cuts water consumption by up to 90%, providing a more eco-friendly solution to conventional agricultural practices. The leafy greens are grown without pesticides and are harvested year-round at peak freshness, offering a consistent supply of nutritious produce for consumers.

According to the press release, the decision to bring Plenty’s produce to 7-Eleven customers aligns with the convenience chain’s broader “Good Made Easy” initiative, which focuses on offering products that not only satisfy customer preferences but also contribute to larger sustainability goals.

“We are thrilled to introduce Plenty to our salad offerings and bring their innovative and sustainable approach to fresh produce to our customers,” said Marissa Jarratt, Chief Marketing and Sustainability Officer at 7-Eleven. “This partnership is part of our ongoing efforts to deliver high-quality, convenient options that positively impact the environment.”

Customers at 7-Eleven will now be able to purchase salads made with Plenty’s crispy lettuce in two classic varieties: the California Cobb Salad and the Chicken Caesar Salad. The former includes white meat chicken, sliced egg, grape tomatoes, applewood bacon, and a cheddar-Monterey Jack cheese blend, while the latter features parmesan cheese, croutons, parmesan crisps, and a lemon wedge, served with Caesar dressing. Both options are designed to appeal to those seeking fresh and flavorful meal choices.

The partnership also represents a significant milestone for Plenty as it continues expanding its footprint. “We’re proud to be working with 7-Eleven to bring sustainably grown produce into the heart of communities across California,” said Dana Worth, SVP of Commercial at Plenty. “Expanding our footprint into convenience stores with 7-Eleven marks an important milestone in making fresh, locally grown produce more accessible, and we look forward to continued collaboration.”

7-Eleven has long been recognized as a leader in the convenience retail industry, with a presence across the U.S. and Canada. The company, headquartered in Irving, Texas, operates over 13,000 stores under various brands, including 7-Eleven®, Speedway®, and Stripes®. The retailer’s diverse product offerings have grown to include a wide range of fresh foods, including salads, sandwiches, and protein boxes, alongside its iconic Slurpee® and Big Gulp® beverages. As part of its strategy to remain a leader in the convenience sector, 7-Eleven continuously seeks innovative solutions to meet customer needs, with sustainability becoming an increasingly important factor in its business decisions.

Plenty, on the other hand, has been at the forefront of transforming agriculture. With farms in California, Virginia, and internationally in Abu Dhabi, the company’s mission is to make fresh, nutritious produce available globally while minimizing environmental impact. By focusing on efficiency and resource conservation, Plenty aims to revolutionize food systems and address the growing challenges of climate change, land scarcity, and food security.

As reported, this partnership signifies more than just a product offering—it underscores a shift in the convenience retail landscape toward more sustainable, responsible sourcing. Both companies are committed to leveraging their strengths to provide a reliable supply of fresh produce that meets consumer expectations while advancing broader environmental objectives. This collaboration not only addresses the immediate demand for healthier food options but also positions 7-Eleven and Plenty as pioneers in integrating sustainability into everyday consumer experiences.
