Taylor Farms Invests in Hessing to Drive Fresh Produce Innovation in Europe

A Strategic Partnership to Enhance Innovation, Automation, and Fresh Food Solutions Across Europe

Taylor Farms has announced a strategic investment in Hessing, a leading European processor and distributor of fresh fruits and vegetables.

This partnership aims to leverage both companies’ expertise to drive innovation, expand market opportunities, and meet the growing demand for healthy, fresh produce in Europe.

Hessing, founded in 1968 and headquartered in the Netherlands, has established itself as a key player in the European fresh produce market. The company operates state-of-the-art facilities, including a modern fruit processing plant in Schwalmtal, Germany, and a vegetable production site in Greenport Venlo, Netherlands.

Serving customers across Germany, Belgium, Denmark, and the Netherlands, Hessing has built a reputation for delivering high-quality, fresh-cut produce to supermarkets and restaurant chains.

With Taylor Farms’ investment, Hessing plans to enhance its growth strategy by implementing advanced innovations and automation in its operations.

According to the press release, Hessing will remain a family-owned business with the Hessing family maintaining majority ownership.

“The collaboration with Taylor Farms is an important step for our company,” said Frank Hessing, CEO of Hessing. “In our rapidly changing market, innovation and automation are essential for growth. With the expertise of Taylor Farms, we can confidently build towards a healthy and sustainable future while expanding our reach. Together, we can better support our customers in their demand for healthy, fresh products.”

Bruce Taylor, Chairman and CEO of Taylor Farms, also expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing the potential to accelerate innovation and create new opportunities in the European market:

“We are excited to work with Hessing as we enter into this strategic partnership. By combining our respective knowledge and expertise, we can accelerate the development of fresh food innovations and capitalize on new opportunities in Europe together. Our mutual commitment to innovation aligns with our goal of creating a positive impact across the entire supply chain.”

Taylor Farms, based in Salinas, California, often referred to as “The Salad Bowl of the World,” has a strong presence throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

The company is known for its commitment to quality, food safety, sustainability, and continuous innovation. Taylor Farms’ products include a wide range of fresh salads and healthy meal options, making them a leader in the North American market.

Hessing, with its workforce of nearly 2,000 employees, focuses on making healthy eating convenient by processing, washing, and packaging fresh fruits and vegetables. Their product offerings include meal salads, meal kits, and pre-cut fruit and vegetable solutions.
