Strategic Investments in Automation Poise Carson Cold to Better Serve West Coast Supply Chains
Carson Cold Storage & Packing, strategically positioned within the vital overweight corridor near the bustling ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, has announced major investments in new, advanced packing lines and cutting-edge equipment to modernize its operations.
This move is part of the company’s ongoing effort to enhance efficiency and meet the rising demand for value-added services on the U.S. West Coast.
The recent enhancements include the installation of fully automated lines designed to handle tropical fruit, citrus, and onions.
Notably, the company’s expanded capabilities now include specialized onion packing lines that can accommodate both bulk 40-pound cases and bagged products. This diversification adds new service offerings to Carson Cold’s already extensive suite of solutions, providing greater flexibility for their clients.

The facility’s upgrades are part of Carson Cold’s broader strategy to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive market.
Their 170,000-square-foot facility offers a wide range of capabilities designed to handle fresh produce and other temperature-sensitive goods.
The warehouse includes over 7,000 pallet positions, 20 temperature-controlled rooms for various storage requirements, and dedicated dry and ambient storage areas for products beyond fresh produce. Additionally, the facility is equipped with seven GIRÓ bagging machines and automated Compac line equipment for sorting kiwi and citrus.
