The redesigned app offers a smoother shopping experience, multi-store browsing, simplified SNAP EBT checkout, and faster feature updates through a unified codebase.
Flashfood, a marketplace focused on offering affordable groceries, has launched a redesigned version of its mobile app. Known as Flashfood 3.0, the new release introduces an enhanced interface aimed at improving the shopping experience, allowing users to find, shop, and compare deals more efficiently.
As the company’s largest app update to date, the redesign seeks to make saving on fresh groceries more accessible and enjoyable for users.
With this update, Flashfood has overhauled the app’s usability and introduced new shopping features. One of the key improvements is the streamlined onboarding process, designed to provide a smooth introduction for first-time users.
The process ensures new shoppers can easily create accounts and start browsing within minutes, aligning with the company’s focus on making savings simple from the very beginning.
The redesigned interface also introduces a new map screen that allows users to browse multiple stores in a single view. This feature offers both vertical and horizontal scrolling, enabling users to quickly compare deals across different locations. The card-style display further simplifies comparison shopping, enhancing the overall usability and making it easier for customers to locate the best offers nearby.
Flashfood 3.0 also addresses the needs of shoppers using SNAP EBT as a payment method.
The checkout process has been refined to display a clear breakdown of the SNAP EBT subtotal, ensuring families can manage their budget effectively before finalizing their purchase.
One of the more technical yet forward-thinking aspects of the update involves the transition to a single React Native codebase. This change allows Flashfood to maintain consistency across iOS and Android platforms, streamlining future development efforts.
As stated in the report, this will enable the company to release new app features more efficiently moving forward, ensuring users on all platforms benefit from simultaneous updates and improvements.
Jordan Schenck, President and Chief Operating Officer of Flashfood, highlighted the significance of this release, emphasizing that customer feedback played a crucial role in the redesign.
“Our customers have been asking for a new Flashfood app for a long time, and we could not be more excited to deliver it,”
He further noted that while the app itself has not been the company’s main strength in the past, Flashfood’s value lies in delivering affordable, fresh groceries. Schenck affirmed that the new app combines both an improved shopping experience and the mission of offering nutritious food at reduced prices.
The new Flashfood app is now available for download on both the Apple Store and Google Play. Users can explore the updated features by visiting flashfood.com.
