Calavo Growers, a century-old leader in the fresh avocado market, is celebrating its partnership with The Viru Group (Viru), a prominent international food group based in Peru. This collaboration is underscored by the introduction of co-branded cartons, showcasing both Calavo and Viru logos, ensuring a continuous supply of high-quality Peruvian avocados during the crucial transition period in Mexico’s avocado seasons, from May to September.

According to the press release from Produce BlueBook, this strategic partnership has been fundamental in maintaining a steady flow of avocados to meet consumer demand.

Viru, a privately held company, is a major player in the global agricultural sector. Operating over 30,000 acres of land and ten production facilities, Viru employs more than 17,000 people and exports its products to over 50 countries.

The company’s business segments include fresh, frozen, and processed foods. In 2011, Viru expanded its offerings by introducing avocados, which quickly became a cornerstone crop..
