Cox Farms Teams Up with Feeding America to Deliver Three Million Pounds of Produce

Ambitious partnership connects North America’s largest greenhouse operator with the nation’s largest hunger relief organization to expand year round access to fresh produce.

Cox Farms Teams Up with Feeding America to Deliver Three Million Pounds of Produce has announced a far reaching collaboration with Feeding America to donate 3 million pounds of fresh produce annually to families in need across the United States and Canada.

Revealed on January 20, 2025, this partnership addresses the critical issue of food insecurity by leveraging Cox Farms’ position as North America’s largest greenhouse operator to deliver consistently nutritious vegetables and fruits.

Through strategic distribution efforts, communities that face limited access to healthy food will now receive essential produce, ultimately helping to foster better health outcomes for millions of people.

Cox Farms will supply high quality items like lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, and peppers to Feeding America’s nationwide network, which spans more than 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs.

The farm’s year round greenhouse operations enable it to grow and donate produce in large quantities, reinforcing its commitment to deliver ongoing relief rather than short term fixes.

By uniting two organizations known for their dedication to sustainability and hunger relief, this initiative aims to reduce food waste as well, diverting nutritious goods away from potential landfill disposal.

“Cox Farms is committed to making a difference in the communities we serve, and our partnership with Feeding America reflects our mission to provide access to fresh, healthy food for people facing hunger. By leveraging our cutting edge greenhouse technology and sustainable practices, we’re addressing food insecurity while donating nutritious produce like lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries and peppers throughout the year. Together, we’re helping to nourish families and ensure they can lead healthier lives.”

Steven Bradley, President of Cox Farms

Feeding America, which currently helps provide 5.9 billion meals each year, plays a pivotal role in distributing surplus items to areas with high hunger rates.

Its focus includes both supplying food to those in need and tackling the systemic issues that lead to food insecurity.

“The movement to end hunger takes shared vision and dedicated partnerships. Together with Cox Farms, we are providing more access to nutritious food, including fresh produce all year round, to people facing hunger in communities across the country.”

Erika Thiem, Feeding America’s Chief Supply Chain Officer

By operating more than 700 acres of greenhouses and harvesting over 450 million pounds of produce each year, Cox Farms has the capacity to support large scale hunger alleviation efforts.

The organization’s portfolio includes BrightFarms and Mucci Farms, which embody its aspiration to innovate and future proof agriculture.

Through advanced greenhouse technology, Cox Farms aims to bolster reliable food production while significantly reducing environmental impact.

Beyond providing immediate relief to households experiencing scarcity, this collaboration seeks to encourage healthier dietary habits in underserved regions, thereby addressing nutritional disparities at their roots.

Cox Farms’ partnership with Feeding America aligns with the broader mission of its parent company, Cox Enterprises, to empower 34 million people by 2034 as part of its 34by34 Initiative.

By contributing millions of pounds of fresh produce, Cox Farms is helping to address vital challenges linked to well being and socio-economic equity.
