EFI Launches Toolkit for National Farmworker Awareness Week

EFI Launches Toolkit for National Farmworker Awareness Week

A comprehensive online toolkit offers promotional materials, educational content, and event ideas to honor farmworkers’ contributions and raise awareness of their challenges during National Farmworker Awareness Week, March 25–31, 2025.

Equitable Food Initiative (EFI), a workforce development and certification organization partnering with growers, farmworkers, retailers, and consumer groups, has launched an online toolkit to support planning for National Farmworker Awareness Week, scheduled for March 25–31, 2025.

The initiative seeks to honor the indispensable contributions of farmworkers to the food supply chain and to spotlight the challenges they encounter in the agricultural industry.

The toolkit provides a comprehensive suite of resources designed for companies, organizations, and individuals eager to participate in and advocate for improved conditions and recognition for farmworkers.

The newly released toolkit is structured to facilitate a multifaceted celebration and advocacy effort.

It includes a sample proclamation that encourages local politicians to officially recognize the week, thereby drawing public attention to the critical role that farmworkers play.

The toolkit offers pre-designed social media graphics and posts, complete with sample captions, to simplify the process of sharing supportive messages across various online platforms.

The toolkit also features a range of educational materials such as fact sheets, infographics, printable signs, and even a children’s coloring page that highlight both the essential contributions of farmworkers and the complex issues they face in the field.

Practical engagement ideas are provided as well, offering tips for hosting events, sharing personal stories, and initiating discussions that amplify the voices of farmworkers throughout the community.

This year’s initiative goes beyond resource distribution by incorporating success stories from companies that have adopted best practices in supporting farmworkers.

These narratives are intended to serve as both inspiration and a practical roadmap for other organizations, showcasing the benefits of ethical labor practices, fair treatment, and worker empowerment.

“Farmworker Awareness Week is a vital time to reflect on the people who make fresh, healthy food possible. I encourage agricultural companies and organizations to find ways to celebrate their farmworkers internally and create communications to consumers and buyers that foster a deeper understanding of the labor that goes into the food we eat every day.”

LeAnne Ruzzamenti, Director of Marketing and Communications

This clear call to action encapsulates the dual aim of the initiative: to honor the critical contributions of farmworkers while educating the public about the often-overlooked realities of food production.

EFI’s longstanding commitment to workforce development and ethical labor practices is well reflected in the design of this toolkit.

By collaborating with a diverse array of stakeholders including growers, retailers, and consumer groups EFI is working to build a more equitable food system that not only acknowledges the vital contributions of farmworkers but also addresses the systemic challenges they face.

The toolkit comes at a time when discussions around labor rights and fair compensation are increasingly prominent.

The provision of ready-to-use promotional materials and engagement strategies is expected to foster informed discussions about the true cost of the food we consume, bridging the gap between everyday consumer habits and the realities of agricultural labor.

In addition to raising awareness, the toolkit also aims to serve as a catalyst for broader systemic change.

By sharing success stories from companies that have effectively implemented fair labor practices, EFI demonstrates that ethical approaches in the agricultural sector not only improve worker well-being but also contribute to a more sustainable and just food system.

The diverse range of resources from official proclamations to social media assets and educational materials ensures that organizations of all sizes have the tools they need to make a tangible impact during National Farmworker Awareness Week.
