Compostable forks and bold new flavors underscore Taylor Farms’ latest lineup of ready-to-eat salads
Taylor Farms, a prominent producer of ready to eat salads based in Salinas, California, has introduced six new Chopped Salad Bowls to meet growing demand for convenient, nutritious meal options.
Launched this month on January 28, 2025, the lineup offers a range of flavors and includes a compostable fork in each package, reflecting the company’s commitment to both taste and sustainability.
The new bowls, all under 400 calories and containing at least 10 grams of protein, aim to appeal to consumers looking for a quick meal solution without sacrificing quality or health benefits.
Taylor Farms is widely recognized for its existing array of chopped salad kits, and these new bowls expand on that successful concept by providing ready to eat options in single serving formats.
The selection includes Wedge, Chopped Caesar, Sweet Kale, Maple Bourbon, Nashville Hot, and Everything.
Each bowl is designed for on-the-go convenience, featuring crisp vegetables, assorted toppings, and a signature dressing that reflects the flavor profile of the larger chopped salad kit line.
“Consumers know and love the Taylor Farms brand for our chopped kits. That delightful eating experience is available in a variety of product sizes to meet consumers wherever they are from our Chopped Kits to our Mini Chopped Kits, and new Chopped Salad Bowls.”
Charis Neves, Director Innovation & Product at Taylor Farms
This approach aims to make the brand’s most popular flavors easily accessible to busy individuals who might otherwise skip healthier options due to time constraints.
The six new bowls each highlight a different combination of ingredients and dressings.
One features maple bourbon vinaigrette paired with smoky bacon, frosted almonds, and crunchy chopped romaine; another showcases a creamy everything seasoned ranch dressing, crisp romaine, carrots, red and green cabbage, and grilled chicken.
For those seeking more adventurous flavors, the Nashville Hot Chopped Salad Bowl blends zesty pepper jack cheese and seasoned croutons with a tangy, spicy ranch dressing.
“The dressings and delicious flavors are consistent across all platforms. Consumers can enjoy their favorite Taylor Farms chopped salad on the go, with crunchy chopped vegetables, added protein, and delicious toppings with a compostable fork for convenience.”
Chelsea Perkins, Product Manager at Taylor Farms
The compostable fork now included in each bowl is made from PlantSwitch’s CompostZero resin, a material that aims to reduce plastic usage and can be composted in both home and industrial environments.
This move reflects growing consumer interest in sustainable packaging and the company’s stated goal of minimizing environmental impact in its product offerings.
Wedge Chopped Salad Bowl caters to those craving piquant blue cheese and crispy fried onions, while Sweet Kale offers a balance of poppyseed dressing with kale, romaine lettuce, and cabbage, topped with cranberries, pepitas, and feta.
The Caesar Chopped Salad Bowl provides a classic, with romaine lettuce, grilled chicken, and herb-seasoned flatbread strips, all tossed in a parmesan forward dressing.
By ensuring each product remains under 400 calories, Taylor Farms seeks to maintain a health conscious appeal, potentially drawing in individuals who want portion controlled meals that are still satisfying.
“We challenge ourselves in our business to be responsible with our resources, and this is one step to help decrease plastic in our system. We are excited to replace over 100 million plastic forks next year and to continue looking at other applications within our packaging portfolio.”
Lisa Anthony, Director of Packaging Procurement
By integrating a plant based, compostable utensil, Taylor Farms hopes to encourage consumers to think about both their personal well-being and the broader ecological footprint of their purchases.
The company’s goal is to give salad enthusiasts an assortment of choices that cater to different taste preferences.
While the flavors range from tangy and spicy to mild and creamy, the consistent theme is providing fresh ingredients in a grab and go format.
By expanding its lineup with these six offerings, Taylor Farms underscores its position as a leader in ready-to-eat salads, hoping to attract both longtime fans of its Chopped Kits and newcomers seeking portable, nutrient dense meals.
