Empowering sustainable agriculture through community action, the Ladybug Love campaign unites customers in support of regenerative organic practices and vital farmer training programs
Natural Grocers, based in Lakewood, Colo., has launched its annual Ladybug Love campaign during Earth Month from April 1 to 30, 2025.

The initiative, in collaboration with Rodale Institute, aims to support Farmer Training Programs that prepare the next generation of organic farmers while promoting regenerative organic practices.
The campaign calls on shoppers to pledge support for beneficial insects by avoiding harmful chemicals, ultimately bolstering efforts to maintain healthy ecosystems and a sustainable food supply.

At the heart of the fundraising efforts is a commitment to not only raise environmental awareness but also to directly empower small family farms through targeted training and research.
Customers have several ways to get involved: by taking or renewing an online pledge, donating at the register, or purchasing specially marked products.
For every Ladybug Love pledge made during the campaign period, Natural Grocers will contribute $1 to Rodale Institute, with a donation cap of $25,000.
Additionally, patrons can opt to donate $1, $5, or $10 during checkout to further fund the Institute’s educational programs.
The campaign also features a special in-store promotion: from April 22 to 24, every Ladybug Zip Pouch sold will trigger a $2 donation to the Institute, enhancing the overall contribution.
These multifaceted opportunities not only support organic farming practices but also reinforce Natural Grocers’ broader commitment to environmental stewardship.
The fundraising drive is designed to generate a total of $100,000 in April, a target that underscores the importance of collaborative action in advancing sustainable agriculture.
The funds raised will be directed toward Rodale Institute’s immersive, full-time Farmer Training Programs, which are critical in equipping farmers with the knowledge and skills necessary for adopting regenerative organic methods.
This strategic partnership between Natural Grocers and Rodale Institute is a significant step toward strengthening the connection between responsible consumer behavior and the long-term health of agricultural ecosystems.
The campaign highlights the essential role that beneficial insects play in our food supply and the broader environmental context.
Beneficial insects, including ladybugs, contribute to natural pest control and help maintain the delicate balance required for regenerative farming systems.
In emphasizing this connection, the initiative not only educates the public about environmental conservation but also provides practical avenues for supporting organic agriculture.
The collaboration between Natural Grocers and Rodale Institute represents a thoughtful investment in both the environment and the agricultural community, paving the way for more resilient food systems.

“We’re honored to be chosen as a cause supported by Natural Grocers and its customers. When shoppers invest their hard-earned dollars in the Institute’s work, they’re supporting small family farms, improving the environment and growing the body of scientific research that equips farmers to adopt regenerative organic practices.”
Jeff Tkach, CEO of Rodale Institute
His words underscore the tangible impact that consumer contributions can have on fostering sustainable agricultural practices and preserving natural resources.

“Natural Grocers’ Ladybug Love campaign raises awareness about the crucial role beneficial insects play in our food supply and regenerative farming.
