Providing Over 2.9 Million Meals Across the U.S. and Mexico Amid Rising Food Insecurity
NatureSweet® has significantly impacted in 2024 by donating 3.5 million pounds of fresh produce to food banks across North America, addressing the critical need for nutritious food amid economic challenges.
This generous contribution, including tomatoes, cucumbers, and sweet peppers, has been instrumental in providing over 2.9 million meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity in the United States and Mexico.
The donation effort by NatureSweet® comes at a crucial time when many households are grappling with record inflation and escalating food prices.

In the United States, a substantial portion of the donation, approximately two million pounds, was allocated to the San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB).
Located in San Antonio, the headquarters of NatureSweet®, the SAFB has played a pivotal role in ensuring that local families have access to essential food supplies.
According to the SAFB, the donation facilitated the provision of 1.9 million meals to those in need within the San Antonio community. This significant support is part of NatureSweet®’s long-standing relationship with the SAFB, which recognized the company’s ongoing contributions by honoring it with the “Hunger Fighter of the Year” award in 2022 for its efforts in the Gift of Food initiative.
Across the border in Mexico, more than one million pounds of NatureSweet® produce were donated to Bancos de Alimentos de México (BAMX). BAMX is a network of food banks that operates throughout Mexico, providing vital assistance to vulnerable communities.
The partnership with BAMX underscores NatureSweet®’s commitment to extending its support beyond the United States, ensuring that communities in Mexico also benefit from access to fresh and nutritious food.
