In a remarkable testament to its yearly growth, the 2024 Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) Convention and Trade Show outdid itself once again, attracting a record-breaking population of over 4,000 participants.
The convention, known for its vibrant and enriching atmosphere, hosted 630 exhibitors representing 300 different companies, making it the largest of its kind in Vancouver to date.
Among the exhibitors, 148 were international representatives hailing from 12 different countries, making this year’s event truly a global affair.
Canadian businesses were not left behind, with 161 representatives showcasing the best in Canadian produce.
The convention also saw an impressive number of 78 new CPMA member exhibitors taking to the platform for the first time.
The diversity of representation across the globe emphasizes the growing role of CPMA as a global nexus for innovation and networking in the produce industry.
The convention was not just about numbers, but also about the showcasing of innovative product development in the industry.
The 2024 convention was distinguished by the New Product Showcase which featured an exciting range of 60 products from 36 different companies.
Among the coveted awards presented at the convention, the Fresh Health Award went to City Wide Produce and the Young Professional Award was bestowed to Jessica Levac of Bellmont Powell.
The Packer’s Produce Person of the Year Award was deservedly clinched by former CEO of The Star Group, David Karwacki, a testament to his significant contribution to the industry.
Embodying innovation, the Best New Product Award was awarded to EarthFresh for their fresh steamed vegetables, while the Best Snackable Product went to Taylor Farms for their innovative Snack Packs.
A notable highlight of the convention was the International Sustainability Summit co-hosted by CPMA, the International Federation for Produce Standards, and the Global Coalition of Fresh Produce.
The event was a resounding success, attracting 100 participants from 7 countries, further cementing CPMA’s role as a global platform for industry thought leadership.
The CPMA expressed boundless gratitude to all sponsors, volunteers, exhibitors, and attendees who have contributed to the success of this monumental event.
A special note of acknowledgment was given to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, where the leftover produce was donated.
