The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation has opened applications for its 2024 funding cycle, aiming to support programs that enhance nutrition education, improve nutrition access, and promote wellness for both children and adults in the communities served by Sprouts Farmers Market.
This year, the Foundation plans to distribute a total of $3 million in grants to approximately 300 local organizations.
“We look forward to working with over 300 organizations to drive meaningful impact in our communities,” said Lyndsey Waugh, Executive Director of the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation.
Each grant, ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, will be allocated across three categories: Sprouting School Gardens, Growing Healthy Kids, and Wellness Across the Lifespan.
The aim is to provide hands-on learning opportunities, improve nutrition access, and support health and wellness programs.
The Sprouting School Gardens initiative focuses on funding new or existing school-based gardening programs. These programs offer students practical learning experiences that bring nutrition education to life.
Growing Healthy Kids targets community-based programs that enhance children’s access to nutritious food, provide nutrition education, and promote overall health and wellness.
Wellness Across the Lifespan is designed to support community programs focused on adult health and wellness.
Jack Sinclair, CEO of Sprouts Farmers Market, emphasized the company’s commitment to community wellness: “Our 32,000 team members want to see our communities thrive. Supporting local organizations that focus on wellness and nutrition access is an important part of what we do.”
Since its inception in 2015, the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation has granted over $20 million to organizations at the forefront of nutrition education and wellness.
Each year, an estimated 3 million children benefit from programs supported by the Foundation. This year, Sprouts aims to more than double its grant programs, furthering its impact on community health.
According to the press release, the deadline for organizations to apply for funding is July 15, 2024.
