Synergistic Merger Aims to Boost Efficiency and Customer Satisfaction Across 25 States
Western Sky Produce, a fresh produce service provider known for its customized programs encompassing procurement, distribution, logistics, and consolidation, has joined the FreshEdge network. FreshEdge, a family of top-tier fresh food distribution companies, is backed by Wind Point Partners and continues to expand its reach and capabilities with this new addition.
Founded in March 2020, Western Sky Produce is based in California’s Salinas Valley, a hub for agricultural activity. The company was established by Wyatt Meiggs and Phil Giles, who combined their more than 20 years of industry experience to navigate the complex supply chain of perishable goods. Their mission was to leverage their strong grower-shipper relationships to develop effective procurement solutions for their customers. Since its inception, Western Sky Produce has built a reputation for maintaining strong industry relationships, which translates into high customer satisfaction.

FreshEdge, headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, was formed in 2019 through the combination of Indianapolis Fruit, Piazza Produce, and Get Fresh Produce. Since then, it has grown into a super-regional leader in the fresh food industry, focusing on fresh produce and specialty food items. The FreshEdge footprint now spans twenty-five states across the Midwest and southeastern United States. Western Sky Produce marks FreshEdge’s sixth acquisition since Wind Point’s initial investment in 2022.
