Westfalia Fruit Launches Premium Avocado Oils in the U.S., Emphasizing Quality and Sustainability

New product line offers Plain, Garlic, and Lemon flavors, highlighting the company’s commitment to health, versatility, and environmental responsibility.

Westfalia Fruit, widely recognized as a leading authority in the avocado industry, has introduced its premium, 100% pure avocado oils to the United States market. These oils, which are now available in three distinct flavors—Plain, Garlic, and Lemon—are derived from fresh avocados meticulously grown and harvested in South Africa.

This new product line exemplifies the company’s commitment to quality, versatility, and reliability, further cementing its reputation as a global avocado expert.

The avocado oils by Westfalia Fruit are produced through a unique process that extracts oil solely from the avocado pulp, ensuring a pure flavor profile. Zac Bard, a business development executive at Westfalia Fruit, highlighted the company’s extensive experience and innovation in the avocado oil sector. “We are also avocado oil connoisseurs and have been making avo oils for over 20 years with input from edible oil specialists,” Bard said, emphasizing the company’s dedication to quality and continuous improvement.

Health and sustainability are significant drivers of the avocado oil market’s projected steady growth. Avocado oil is rich in monosaturated fats and antioxidants, offering numerous health benefits, including improved heart, vision, brain functions, and skin health. Its high smoke point of 500 degrees Fahrenheit makes it ideal for various cooking methods, including high-heat cooking, grilling, and baking. This aligns with the increasing consumer awareness and demand for health-conscious and sustainable products.

As stated in a Produce BlueBook report, Westfalia Fruit’s approach to production is deeply rooted in sustainability. The company employs a zero-waste policy, utilizing the flesh of the avocados for oil and returning the seeds and skins to the orchards as soil conditioners and mulch. This comprehensive process not only enhances the product’s quality but also supports environmental sustainability and carbon footprint reduction initiatives.

Raina Nelson, president and CEO of Westfalia Fruit North America, expressed excitement about the introduction of their avocado oil products in the U.S. market. “We are thrilled to introduce the first avocado oil with a purpose—to do good,” Nelson said. She emphasized the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainability and the creation of high-quality, authentic products that benefit both consumers and the environment.

The new avocado oil product line is available in 250ml recyclable glass bottles, with the Plain flavor also offered in 500ml bottles. In an effort to enhance consumer awareness and participation in recycling, Westfalia Fruit has partnered with CIRT (Can I Recycle This?), providing QR codes on each bottle that inform consumers about the recyclability of the packaging based on their zip code.

Westfalia Fruit’s product offerings extend beyond avocado oils, encompassing a year-round supply of fresh avocados, guacamole, avocado pulp, IQF avocado, and a variety of seasonal subtropical, exotic, and deciduous fruits, berries, cherries, and citrus. The company’s comprehensive and sustainable agricultural practices are a testament to its commitment to producing high-quality, safe food while prioritizing the well-being of the environment and the communities in which it operates.
